My name is Scott Stefanoski, owner of Salisbury Handyman and this is our mission statement

Our mission statement: Salisbury Handyman strives to provide exceptional customer service, professional home repairs and services, for a fair price, while making a difference in our community.

I started Salisbury Handyman to provide a new experience for homeowners. When I first moved to the Eastern Shore, I gutted our home, replumbed, rewired, installed a new kitchen and bathrooms. I did all of it by myself because I could not find contractors that I felt would offer me great service for a fair price. Most of the contractors I called, fell into one of four categories:

  • Contractors that wouldn’t return phone calls.

  • Contractors that returned phone calls and set up an appointment to see the work, but didn’t show up or even call/text to let me know they couldn’t make it.

  • Contractors that did show up, but would never get back with a quote.

  • Contractors that did returned calls, showed up, and gave me a quote, but the quote was so minimal, I knew it would be nothing but problems.

I knew there had to be a better way for homeowners to get their homes fixed and so when I retired from my IT career earlier this year, I decided to start Salisbury Handyman.

When it comes to customer service, we strive to be different from most contractors. I try to follow a few simple courtesies:

  • I believe in responding to calls and emails same day when possible, by the next business day, when it is not.

  • I provide upfront, fixed price based on the knowledge that we have for your project. I warn you about potential risks with your project that could exceed that price such as unforeseen damage and promise to contact you should these come up.

The service we provide is customized for each customer. I believe in following or exceeding building codes. I won’t cut corners, knowing that although our name is on the line, it’s your home we are fixing and you deserve the best value for your dollar. We provide top quality, professional services, but understand times are tight and that some homeowners want to do part of the project themselves to either save money or for that sense of accomplishment. For example, we can work with you if you want us to repair your drywall holes, but you want to do the painting yourself. We will work to create a plan for your repairs, make recommendations on what to do next, and be available if you have any questions after we leave.

When it comes to a fair price, we understand that home repairs are expensive. To help people budget for repairs and improvements, we provide up front pricing. My estimates are based on national averages and define what materials we will use, what materials that we need you, the customer to choose, and let you know exactly what you are receiving when you hire us. We work with you to determine what is the best way for us to complete your project, whether it is for you to go to a home center and pick out and bring back a new door, or if you simply want to select one and have us buy it, deliver it, and install it. I promise to work with you to find the best process for your situation.

When it comes to making a difference in our community, I firmly believe in giving back to my community. I volunteer in our community working with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Mental Health Association of Maryland. For AFSP, I am the assistant director for the Mid-Shore Out of the Darkness Walk, volunteer at local health fairs, and lead Talks Save Lives classes. With the Mental Health Association of Maryland, I am a certified Mental Health First Aider for both Adults and Youth, as well as a Teen Mental Health First Aid certified trainer. I am really proud to work with both of these organizations. With AFSP I have helped with walks the past two years that have raised funds for AFSP as well as worked to destigmatize suicided prevention. Working with the Mental Health Association of Maryland, I was part of a team that certified over 400 students in North and South Dorchester High Schools as Teen Mental Health First Aiders.
